KNSM island
Jo Coenen is responsible for the design of the KNSM island, which was drawn in 1989. He chose to give this project a monumental appeal, with large horizontals and huge volumes. Architects from Germany, Belgium and Switzerland participated. Some names are Kollhoff and Rapp, Bruno Albert, Tordoir and Diener & Diener. The combination of ancient and new designs provides the perfect mix for a next generation. You can take a walk on the wild side and experience the broad lanes, monumental buildings, extraordinary bridges and agoras; a unique view of Amsterdam.

The characteristic
façade of the museum
Our Lord in the Attic is one of the oldest and most remarkable museums in Amsterdam. Behind the characteristic façade of the house by the canal lies a largely original 17th-century home and a complete hidden church. This hidden church 'in the attic' was built during the Reformation, when Catholics were forbidden to hold public services. Today, the church and the house form the backdrop to a succession of striking exhibitions highlighting religion and contemporary art.
